“GOMEZ, COME INTO MY office,” Henderson said as she rushed through the open office landscape towards her own office.

“Sure.” Gomez finished off the last sentence on his computer and saved his current work before he left his cubicle.

“Close the door behind you, please,” Henderson said as Gomez entered, then she pointed to a chair in front of her desk. “Please sit down.”

“Anything with the Arabs?” she asked as soon as Gomez was seated.

“There are no direct connections, but about a half dozen I’d like to check if there are any indirect connections.”

“Keep looking. It’s got to be there. This came in during the night.”

Henderson lined up several photos on her desk of two cars driving through the desert. “Inside one of those cars is Edward Sanders, CEO of Sanders Oil Supply and Service, and the cars left for ISIS territory. Meaning he is right now with ISIS.”

“Who are the other ones?”

“Don’t know; one of them followed Sanders around in Damascus, but not once did the CIA’s man get a clear picture.”

“Professionals, then,” Gomez stated.

“Most likely. The others, he met them outside Damascus. Could be anyone.”

“But why is Sanders going into ISIS country if he is just trading?”

“I don’t know. He fit the profile for a person profiting from the war, but as a middle-aged white church goer with a grudge toward Hispanics, he sure doesn’t fit the profile of becoming a radical Muslim.”

“Is expertise a part of the deal?”

“That he is building the refinery for them? No, it’s more likely it’s the size of the deal that calls for this move. After all, his companions look more like bodyguards than engineers.” She pointed at the men barely visible inside the cars. “I’ll set up surveillance on the firm, and you find me that connection.”
